Vital Voices Global Fellowship program for women social entrepreneurs and political leaders is open for applications. The program aims at empowering visionary women changemakers. It is for those women who run for-profit businesses with a social mission or engage in community development. These businesses align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The pillar is designed for women entrepreneurs who know their business value, have a clear growth plan, want to increase their social impact, and are ready to scale their business with investment. While political pillar is for those who are active in society in the political sphere.
The fellowship program will help the participants in growth strategy, understanding their capital needs, and gaining knowledge relevant to financing. They will also learn to craft strategies for unique requirements, and develop a pitch that fulfills investor’s expectations.
As fellows, they will have the opportunity to connect with a group of diverse women leaders from different sectors who share a similar vision of creating positive change in their communities. They will also enhance their leadership and confidence through the Vital Voices Leadership Journey (VVLJ), which involves developing personal narrative and storytelling skills.
Fellows will be invited to participate in an in-person gathering in Washington, DC. They will acquire new skills and tools to increase their capacity. Participants will receive a certificate of achievement after completing the fellowship. They will become part of the Vital Voices global network of more than 20,000 women leaders from around the world.
Vital Voice Global fellowship activities
The participants of the Vital Voice Global fellowship program will participate in:
- All online trainings from June 2024 to March 2025, finish all tasks and any extra phone calls/interactions with other fellows, trainers, or program staff
- The monthly average time commitment is 8 hours
- Web sessions are usually 1-2 hours long and take place between 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. US There will be 2-3 web sessions every month
- Join the whole face-to-face meeting in Fall 2024 (specific dates TBD) in Washington,DC
- Fill out surveys for up to three years after the program ends

Eligibility Criteria for the program
To be considered for the Global Fellowship fellows must meet the following criteria:
- Open to women – including all those who identify as women
- Proficient in English
- Be at least 18 years old
- Commitment to the Vital Voices core principles of leadership: innovative, collaborative, and driven by a clear sense of mission; has strong roots in her community; is committed to connecting across lines that divide
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals
- Be willing to commit to participating in the fellowship and engaging with diverse women leaders from around the world
- Meet all the criteria for the pillar to which they are applying
Eligibility for Political Pillars
The fellowship has two pillars, you can apply to either of them.To be eligible for the Political Pillar, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a leader in the political sphere, such as a politician, a party official, an activist, a journalist, a civil society leader, or a community leader
- You must have at least three years of experience in your political role, leading a civil society organization, or doing similar work
- You must uphold the principles of transparency and good governance
- You must have the skills and potential to grow as a leader
- You must have some knowledge of how policies are made in your context
- Your organization’s mission must align with the values of democracy, transparency, and good governance, if applicable
- Your organization’s main focus must be on one or more of the SDGs
Depending on your organization/sector, there are some additional requirements that you can check while fulfilling the application.

How to apply for the fellowship program ?
The fellowship application is online. You can submit application for either of the program pillars given below,

- Social Entrepreneurship
The application takes at least 45 minutes to fill. The program encourages students to apply early. If you are selected for the program, only you can join it. The participant can not transfer it to any other person.
