Islamic Development Bank IsDB Scholarship 2025/26 (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarship 2025/26. This is a fully funded scholarship and one of the largest programs available for students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, and Postdoctoral studies at IsDB partner universities. The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, return airfare, monthly stipends, books/clothing allowance, and medical expenses. Importantly, IsDB does not charge any application fees at any stage.

Types of Scholarships

The IsDB offers the following scholarship programs:

Merit Scholarship Program (MSP)

The merit scholarship program is for PhD and Post-Doctoral Research at top universities worldwide. It is open to the citizens of IsDB member countries.

Eligibility Criteria for Merit scholarship Program 

  • Up to 35 years for Ph.D. study; up to 40 years for post-doctoral research.
  • M.Sc. for Ph.D. study; Ph.D. for post-doctoral research in an approved field.
  • Above average (“Very Good”) academic achievement.
  • Good command of the language of the institution of study.
  • Minimum 2 years of work/research experience for Ph.D.; 5 years for post-doctoral research.
  • Record of publications/research in the same field.
  • Research proposal in an approved field, endorsed by the nominating institution.
  • No post-doctoral experience outside the home country in the past two years.
  • Not an IsDB staff member or close relative of IsDB staff.
  • Scholarship cannot duplicate other financial support.
  • Admission to an institution does not guarantee a scholarship.

Master of Science Scholarship Program (M.Sc.)

For Master’s degrees at universities ranked within the top 1000 by Times Higher Education. It is open to citizens of IsDB least developed member countries.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc Scholarship

  • Citizen of one of the 20 Least Developed member countries.
  • Maximum age of 30 years at the application closing date.
  • B.Sc. or equivalent degree in science and technology.
  • Above-average academic standing.
  • Nominated by a scientific, academic, or research institution.
  • Good command of the language of study and ability to conduct scientific work in it.
  • Provisional or full admission from listed universities is desirable.
  • Not an IsDB staff member or a close relative of IsDB staff.
  • Scholarship cannot duplicate other financial support.
  • Admission does not guarantee a scholarship

List of 20 Least Developed Member Countries: Afghanistan, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Maldives, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Togo, Uganda, Yemen.

Scholarship Program for Muslim Communities in Non-Member Countries (SPMC)

SPMC scholarship is to support undergraduate studies in fields like medicine, engineering, technology, and agriculture.The scholarship program is open to Muslim communities in non-member countries.

Eligibility Criteria for SPMC

  • Academically meritorious but financially needy Muslim students.
  • Maximum age of 24 years.
  • In need of financial assistance to continue studies.
  • Not an IsDB staff member or a close relative of IsDB staff.
  • Completed senior secondary education (12 years) with good grades in major science subjects.
  • Provided evidence of language proficiency in the university’s medium of instruction.
  • Certified English or French translation of documents if originally in another language.

Eligible Countries: Australia, Cambodia, Croatia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, India, Kenya, Liberia, Macedonia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, Republic of Congo, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, The Philippines, Trinidad-Tobago, Vietnam, and Zambia.

IsDB-ISFD Scholarship Program for Least Developed Member Countries (LDMCs)

The scholarship targets students from 21 Least Developed IsDB Member Countries (LDMCs).The program Fund Bachelor’s degrees or technical diplomas in medicine, engineering, agriculture, and related fields.

Eligibility Criteria for LDMCs

  • Academically meritorious but financially needy Muslim students.
  • Maximum age of 24 years.
  • In need of financial assistance to continue studies.
  • Not an IsDB staff member or a close relative of IsDB staff.
  • Completed senior secondary education (12 years) with good grades in major science subjects.
  • Provided evidence of language proficiency in the university’s medium of instruction.
  • Certified English or French translation of documents if originally in another language.
  • Medically fit and willing to undergo a medical examination after selection.
  • Admission in a relevant discipline at a recognized institution in the home country is desirable.
  • Not residing in a country other than the home country.
  • Not a current beneficiary of another IsDB scholarship.
  • Scholarship cannot duplicate other financial support.
  • Admission does not guarantee a scholarship.
