The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers (Fulbright DAI) brings experienced international educators to the United States for a four-month professional development program.
During this program, participants complete an individual or group project, take advanced undergraduate or graduate-level courses at a U.S. host university, and engage in educational and cultural exchange activities.
Selected educators will:
- Design and implement an educator project directly related to their classroom or school practices.Â
- Participate in coursework at a U.S. host university aligned with their professional goals.
- Observe and co-teach in U.S. elementary or secondary schools.
- Collaborate and share expertise with U.S. educators.
- Join a global network of educators through an online professional learning community.
- Bring back new ideas and experiences to their home countries and implement change in their schools and communities.

Activities
- Participants audit courses at a host university in areas such as curriculum development, educational leadership, teaching methodologies, second-language instruction, and comparative education.
- Each participant works with a university-assigned faculty advisor for guidance on their educator project.
- A dedicated seminar focuses on integrating technology into classroom instruction, tailored to the participants’ technology proficiency.
- Participants complete an individual or group project throughout the program with support from university staff.
- Participants are placed in U.S. elementary or secondary schools to observe, co-teach, and exchange educational practices with U.S. educators.
- Participants join a global virtual platform to collaborate with fellow international educators.
- Held at host universities to reflect, share knowledge, and discuss leadership and education-related topics.
- Participants receive a grant to attend conferences or visit schools/organizations aligned with their professional goals.
Eligibility Criteria for Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teacher
This program is open to full-time primary and secondary school educators from eligible countries who:
- Work directly with students at least 50% of their time.
- Have a minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience or related educational responsibilities.
- Can commit to a five-month stay in the United States.
- Are motivated to implement what they’ve learned upon returning home.
Eligible educators include classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, special education coordinators, librarians, guidance counselors, administrators, and other education professionals. In select countries, teacher trainers are also eligible.

Educators from the following countries and territories are eligible to apply for the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers:
Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Finland, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, Philippines, Senegal, Singapore, Taiwan, Uganda, United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
