The DAAD SEARCA scholarship is currently accepting applications for the academic year 2024. The scholarship is offered through a partnership between SEARCA and DAAD for Masters and PhD degrees in agriculture. The scholarship is for the students of Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
Scholarships are offered for development related programs to foster sustainable development. For those who are looking for a career in teaching and research in their home region or home country. Moreover, the scholarship helps in professional development, strengthening education, research, and regional networking of institutions.

There is also opportunity to apply for research grant in germany for 2, 6 months and applicants can apply for that at the time of application and it covers;

Eligibility Criteria for DAAD SEARCA Scholarship
- Must be citizen of Indonesia, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Timor Leste
- Public University staff or teacher/research staff recruitment from public sector
- Maximum 35 years for Master’s degree and 40 years of age for PhD
- Last year university degree must not be more than six years
Research thesis must focus on SEARCA’s theme and follow priority areas including;
- Agri-Business Models for Increased Productivity and Income
- Sustainable Farming Systems and Natural Resource Management
- Food and Nutrition Security
- Transformational Leadership for Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD)
- Gender and Youth Engagement in ARD
- Enhanced ARD towards Climate Resilience
- EcoHealth/One Health Applications to ARD
English Proficiency Certificate
- TOEFL iBT (80)
- IELTS (6.0)
Documents required for the program
If you are looking forward to apply for MS or PhD program, you must have the following documents ready;
- Application form (filled in English Language)
- Curriculum Vitae
- Publications (if any)
- One recommendation letter for MS, and Two for PhD programs
- Proof of application to University
- Diploma/certificate copies
- Transcript of records
- Letter of Motivation ( 1-2 pages for MS, 1-3 for PhD)
- Copy of National Identification or Passport
- Timetable for research based MS/PhD program / course based M/S/PhD schedule for semester or term
- Brief Description of Research focused on priority areas mentioned above

Additional documents for PhD candidates
Following additional documents for PhD applicants;
- Acceptance Letter from Supervisor for research
- PhD proposal (8-10 pages) concept note will not be accepted
- Abstract of the proposal at least one page
How to apply for the program
Those who are willing to apply for the program can’t use the SEARCH application portal and DAAD portal. Application through SEARCH portal are allowed till 12th January, 2024, Meanwhile, Application through DAAD are upto 31st January, 2024. Create an account, fill all information needed, upload your documents and click submit.
Scholarship Deadline
The application deadline for the program is 12th January, 2024 through SEARCA, 31st January 2024 through DAAD portal.
