Eligibility Criteria for Australia Awards Fellowships 2025

To be eligible for the Australia Awards Fellowships 2025, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a resident of an eligible country (see the list below)
  • Cannot be a permanent resident of Australia
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Cannot be active-duty military personnel
  • Must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirements for a subclass 500 visa
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in English
  • Must be physically fit to participate in the fellowship program
  • Must be able to travel alone, as DFAT will not provide visa support for family members
  • Special provisions are available for fellows with disabilities who require a caregiver

Pacific: Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Wallis and Futuna. Africa: Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Caribbean: Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname. Europe: Ukraine.
