British Council scholarships for Women in STEM 2024-2025

Much awaited fully funded British council scholarship for women is STEM is open for applications. The scholarship is for women in Science, technology, engineering and Mathematics. British council scholarship aims to provide support for women and girls who are pursuing careers in the field of STEM.

  • Full tuition fee 
  • Living Stipend 
  • Travel costs 
  • Visa and health coverage fees
  • Refund of an IELTS English test, if required 

Eligibility Criteria for British Council scholarship 

The scholarship eligibility criteria for women in STEM for 2024-2025 are the following:

  • Be or identify as a women 
  • Passport holder or permanent resident of one of the eligible countries listed at the end
  • Fulfill entry requirement of the UK Higher Education institution for the Course (Academic and English Language)
  • Complete all components for an undergraduate degree at the time of application for scholarship
  • Demonstrate socio-economic or financial support need
  • Not receiving any other kind of financial support or private fund for UK studies 
  • Students who do not have any international exposure will be given preference
  • Have not previously studied at degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK. Distance learning at a UK university or study at a UK branch campus in another country will also be considered as studying in the UK.
  • Indicate their preference for course and institution in the case of applying to multiple institutions. 
  • Meet the English language requirement of the UK Higher Education Institution.
  •  Be motivated and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course
  • Proven work experience or interest in proposed subject
  • Willing to make future contribution to home country 
  • Agree to maintain contact with British council and act as an ambassador 
  • Agree to return to their home country for a minimum of two years after their scholarship award has ended. 

Candidates not eligible to Apply for British Council 

If you have dual British citizenship 

  • Are an employee, a former employee, or relative (*) of an employee of His Majesty’s Government (including British Embassies/High Commissions; the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Department for International Trade; the Ministry of Defence; and the Home Office).
  • Are an employee, a former employee, or relative (*) of an employee of the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM – eligible countries.

(*): Relatives are defined as parents or stepparents, siblings or step siblings, children or stepchildren, spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner (where the couple have been in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years).

  • Are currently in receipt of financial support or funding towards your study programme in the UK from any other source.
  • Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK government-funded scholarship or a UK institutional scholarship/financial bursary.

How to Apply for a British Council scholarship for Women in STEM?

Applicants must Apply directly to the participating  University. The deadlines for the Admissions vary from University to University, therefore, you must check the deadline for admission in different universities.
