Chevening Fellowship: Western Balkans Cyber Security 

Chevening Western Balkans Cyber Security fellowship is open for applications. Cranfield University hosts a ten-week fellowship program. The fellowship is for mid-career professionals with leadership potential in the field of cyber security or cyber policy in the Western Balkans. 

Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office funds this fellowship program. The program covers cyber threats affecting national security and internet governance. Moreover, how online businesses operate, and how consumers can be protected through awareness and adopting new technologies. It’s a comprehensive fellowship program that will also covers:

  • Cyber-crime impacts the economy and society, and how to combat it through legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as social media platforms;
  • The UK and the Western Balkans face specific challenges and opportunities in the cyberspaces
  • If so, you might want to apply for a fellowship program, which will cover these areas in depth. 

You will have the opportunity to interact with experts, policymakers, and practitioners from both regions, and to develop your own research project on a relevant issue. The fellowship is open to anyone who has a background or interest in cyber security, internet law, or online business.

Benefit of the scholarship 

The scholarship covers:

  • Program fee 
  • Living Expenses for the duration of the fellowship 
  • Return economy airfare from the Western Balkans to the UK

Eligibility criteria 

To be eligible for a Chevening Cyber Security Fellowship, you must:

  • Citizen and currently live in one of the following: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro or Serbia
  • Return to your country of citizenship at the end of the period of the fellowship
  • Postgraduate level qualification (or equivalent professional training or experience in a relevant area) at the time of application
  • At least five years’ relevant work experience prior to applying
  • Have significant work experience in cyber security or cyber policy issues, either as a policy formulator, commentator, or academic
  • A good working knowledge of English to be assessed in your application form and if you are invited to interview
  • Agree to adhere to all relevant guidelines and expectations of the fellowship
  • Not hold British or dual British citizenship
  • Not be an employee, a former employee, or relative of an employee of His Majesty’s Government, or have been within the last two years from the opening of Chevening applications (including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, all British Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade and the UKVI), the British Council, a sponsoring UK university, or a staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
  • Not have received UK Government scholarship funding (including Chevening) within the last five years. You will only be eligible to apply for a Chevening Fellowship after a period of five years following the completion of your first UK Government-funded scholarship.
