Climate Change Media Partnership COP29 Reporting Fellowship

The Earth Journalism Network and Stanley Center for Peace and Security are announcing the CCMP COP29 Reporting Fellowship for journalists. This program is designed for journalists interested in covering the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties. The conference will be hosted by Azerbaijan and take place in the city from November 11-20, 2024. If you are a journalist interested in covering this event, stay with us for complete information about this fellowship.

Let’s have an overview of the conference: almost 500 journalists from low- and middle-income countries attend this conference to report on the annual United Nations climate job. This gives journalists the opportunity to cover climate negotiations for people in their home countries and help them better understand the climate issues affecting the global world. This year, the fellowship will bring around 20 journalists from low- and middle-income countries to report on COP 29. Applications will be accepted from May 7 until June.

Applications from journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) are encouraged to apply. Furthermore,  the fellowship encourages applications from freelance reporters and staff from all types of media organizations — international, national, local and community-based.

Benefits of the Fellowship

In addition to providing a unique opportunity to attend this prestigious event, the fellowship will cover all expenses related to your participation, including:

  • Non-refundable economy class airfare
  • Accommodation
  • Meals
  • Travel medical insurance
  • Ground transportation and other costs related to your fellowship

Please note that it is your responsibility to arrange and cover the costs of the visa process. However, CCMP will reimburse the visa cost to you at a later stage.

Furthermore, you will also receive:

  • Information resources and technical support from the organizers to facilitate your reporting during the conference
  • A pre-COP virtual workshop to meet the team, discuss reporting opportunities, and address any other relevant areas

We believe that this fellowship will provide a valuable experience for journalists, and we look forward to receiving your application.
