Fellowship Benefits
The Commonwealth Professional Fellowship is fully funded and covers the following:
- Return airfare from your home country to the UK
- Visa application fee reimbursement
- Monthly stipend to cover living expenses:
- £2,104/month
- £2,612/month for those based in London
- Arrival allowance of up to £1,183.20 (including warm clothing support)
- Disability support (if applicable) – tailored assessment and financial assistance
- Up to £2,000 for short courses, conferences, or visits to other UK organizations
This package makes it easier for professionals to fully focus on their development during their stay in the UK.

Eligible countries include Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, St Helena, St Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, and Zambia.
Eligibility Criteria for Commonwealth Professional fellowship
To apply for the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship, you must:
- Be a citizen or refugee of an eligible Commonwealth country or a British Protected Person
- Be permanently living in one of the eligible countries
- Have at least five years of relevant full-time work experience (part-time equivalent is accepted; volunteer work doesn’t count)
- Be currently employed and committed to return to the same organization after completing the fellowship
- Provide two references, including one from your current employe
- Not have received a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in the past five years
- Be available to start the fellowship on the given dates
- Be applying for professional development, not for academic research or study
Note: Academics can apply, but only for administrative or leadership roles related to their work, not academic research.
