CYD Master Thesis Fellowship is open for applications. The fellowship provides six moths research funds and living allowance. The program is highly competitive. And primary evaluation of criterion is excellence.
The fellow will complete thesis at the CYD campus under the supervision of a professor at a higher education institute in Switzerland. The applicant will chose one master thesis topic out of 62 topics. These topics are defined by the CYD Campus, or they may propose their own thesis topics. The candidates apply for the fellowship must have excellent grade Transcripts, academic records and professional accomplishments.
A rolling call for proposals is now open, and talented researchers in cyber-defence at master level are strongly encouraged to apply.
Benefits of Fellowship Program
The eligible costs includes and are not limit to:
- Living allowance equal to CHF 2’000.- per month for a maximum duration of 6 months.
- Research costs: a maximum amount of CHF 1’500 can be granted for research costs (only for specific equipment needed for the project, not general IT material)
Eligibility Criteria for CYD Master Thesis fellowship
The fellowship program is for researchers at master level who are wiling to work with issues cutting across the frontiers of cyber security and data sciences. The must focus on protection of confidentiality, integrity, information sharing, data fusion, crowdsourcing, data science and AI methods for analyzing cyber and tech relevant data and security, privacy and digital trust technologies.

- Must be enrolled in a Master program at a higher education institution (University or school of applied sciences) in Switzerland
- Endorsement of a professor employed in the institution willing to supervise the applicant
Documents required for CYD fellowship program
There are two stages of application, for the first stage of application documents includes:
- Letter of motivation (Maximum two pages)
- CV
- Diploma and grade transcripts
- Recommendation letters from two referees
- Mater thesis topic
- Project Proposal

How to apply for CYD fellowship Program
The application and evaluation process includes two stages.
- Stage 1 consists of (a) the short-listing of applicants by a CYD Campus evaluation committee
- (b) the interviewing of short-listed applicants by a prospective CYD Campus mentor.If the interview is successful ,short-listed applicants are endorsed by their prospective CYD Campus mentor, and they may proceed to Stage 2.
Shortlisted applicants will have 48 hours from the notice of the decision to contact their prospective mentor and schedule an interview. Failing that, their application will become ineligible.
Stage 2 consists of the submission of a project plan authored by the applicant.All required documents for Stage 1 and Stage 2 must be in English Language via the online submission platform.

Deadline for CYD fellowship program
The deadline for the fellowship program is 23 February 2024. The next call (10th call) will open end of May 2024.
