DASH Master’s and PhD Scholarship in Adolescent Health 2024/2025

The University of Ghana School of Public Health invites applications for the DASH Master’s and PhD Scholarships. The scholarships are offered in Adolescent health and Young Adult health for the academic year 2024/2025. The program aims to improve adolescent health in sub-Saharan Africa. The University of Ghana is working with institutions across Africa and Germany, including universities in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. The project focuses on reproductive health, nutrition and physical activity, and mental health and violence. 

DASH Master’s and PhD scholarship is a part of a multi-country project. Partnering with Dodowa health research center, it aims at building the capacity of young scientists through postgraduate training. 

DASH Master’s and PhD scholarship invites Ghanians to apply for full-time master’s (12 months) and PhD (48 months). The applicants must focus on adolescent health at the school of public health, University of Ghana.

Benefits of DASH Master’s and Phd Scholarship

This scholarship is a fully funded program that covers your all expenses while studying at the University of Ghana , School of public health. The scholarship provides:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • Cost of research towards dissertation/thesis. 
  • On campus accommodation costs 
  • Monthly stipend for  living expenses (PhD)
  • Conferences and workshops attendance (PhD).

Eligibility criteria of scholarship

To be eligible for this DASH scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a Ghanaian citizen.
  • Must pursue full-time study (Master’s or Phd)
  •  Should be able to independently conduct statistical data analysis.
  • Willingness to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must meet the University of Ghana’s postgraduate admission requirements.
  • Should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, including in challenging settings.
  • Previous publication experience is an advantage (for PhD applicants).
  • Applicants under 40 years age
  • Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

DASH Master’s Program Applicants

To apply for Master’s program at the University of Ghana, you must have:

  • Good first degree in relevant field
  • At least two years of work experience in related field

DASH PhD Applicants

To apply for a Phd Program, You must have at least two (2) years’ postmaster’s work or research experience, preferably in a health-related field. You must a master’s degree in any discipline related to health including:

  •  Psychology, Nutrition
  • Nursing
  •  Health Economics
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

The last date to apply for a DASH Master’s and PhD scholarship is June 14,2024. 

How to Apply for a DASH Master’s and Phd scholarship?

The application for DASH Master’s and PhD scholarship is online. Apply for University admission, and then fill out the application for the scholarship. 

University admission 

As we have mentioned the criteria for Master’s and Phd Programs admission above, you can read further about these programs at the official page of University of Ghana. 

  • First, apply online for a Master of public health or PhD Public Health program (Population, Family, and Reproductive Health) at the University of Ghana.
  • The second step is to participate in a competitive entrance exam if you meet the admission requirements. The exam will be based on g (a) analytical essays and (b) basic data analysis. 

DASH Scholarship Application

1. Complete the DASH Scholarship Application form online.

2. Upload the following documents:

  • One-page cover letter.
  • Full CV highlighting statistical analysis skills and research experience.
  • Personal statement (1 page for Master’s, 2 pages for PhD) indicating your suitability for the scholarship.
  • At least one letter of recommendation.
  • Proof of application to the relevant postgraduate program at the University of Ghana.

Interview for Shortlisted Applicants

1. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.

2. Successful candidates will be notified by August 15, 2024.
