Fully funded Erasmus Mundus European Master in Lexicography (EMLex) is accepting applications. The EMLex is a four semester program with 120 ECTS. It focuses on the key areas of Lexicography and dictionary research. The program is open for students of all nations. Students will be able to study in multiple universities in Europe.
It provides tremendous professional opportunities through established international academics. The graduates of this program are highly qualified international experts in the field of research, linguistics, culture and information managment.
Lexicographers can work in the field of terminology, online dictionaries, data management, information system, communication service, research, translation, language education and publishing. The EMLex partner universities are:
- Poland: Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach (Katowice);
- France: Université de Lorraine (Nancy);
- Portugal: Universidade do Minho (Braga);
- Italy: Università degli Studi Roma Tre;
- Spain: Universidad de Santiago de Compostela;
- Germany: Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen Nürnberg & Universität Hildesheim
- Hungary: Károli Gáspár Református Egyetem (Budapest);
- South Africa: Stellenbosch University
Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for EMLex
The program is supported by Erasmus Mundus Joint Master degree. It is a fully funded scholarship program that is available to partner countries and program countries. The scholarship includes;
- Monthly stipend of 1400 euro per month for the whole year
- Cover travel cost expenses
- Installation and living costs
- Participation costs
- Also cover additional cost during the program that includes health insurance, library costs, administrative costs and cultural events
Eligibility criteria for the program
Applicants must have a Higher Educational Institution (HEI) degree in the area of
- (Computational/Applied) Linguistics
- (Foreign) Languages
- Translation
- Communication/Media
- Book Studies / Library and Information Science
- or other relevant disciplines, subject to the consent of and the approval by the Consortium’s admission committee.
Language requirement
To successfully participate in the EMJMD-EMLex master’s program, students must demonstrate strong comprehension and active participation skills in both textual reception and production within the field of study.
Lectures are conducted in English and/or German, and proof of proficiency in both languages is required, with language certificates not exceeding two years of validity.
For non-native German speakers, proficiency must be certified at least at the B1 or B2 level by one of the following institutions:
- onSet-Deutsch (former “OnDaF”): Available at authorized test centers worldwide.
- Goethe-Institut: Zertifikat B1 or Zertifikat B2, with a grade of at least “gut” (good).
- Österreich-Institut: ÖSD-Zertifikat B1 oder ÖSD-Zertifikat B2, mit einem Grade von “gut” (good).
- TestDaF
- Bachelor’s degree in German Studies or a comparable program from one of the EMLex partner universities.
For non-native English speakers, proficiency must be certified at least at the B1 or B2 level by one of the following institutions:
onSet-Englisch: Available at authorized test centers worldwide.
- British Council (IELTS): Overall score of 4.5-5 for B1 or 5.5-6.5 for B2.
- Trinity College (ISE Foundation): ISE I or ISE II.
- TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 42 for B1 or 72 for B2.
- Cambridge Assessment English: Preliminary Certificate or First Certificate in English, Advanced Certificate in English, or Certificate of Proficiency in English.
- Bachelor’s degree in English Studies or a comparable program from one of the EMLex partner universities.

- Certificate of HEI Degree(s)

Assessment of application for Master in Lexicography program
The applications for the program are assessed based on academic excellence, language proficiency requirement, Grade and quality of HEI degrees, Motivational letter, competence in Linguistic analysis, Lexicography/Terminographic knowledge and experience.
How to apply for the program ?
Unlike other Erasmus Mundus Program, Master in Lexicography requires applicants to fill an application form on the computer, sign it and then send it through email. Follow these steps for application;

- Put all required documents in a single PDF file
- Keep the file at 10MB in total
