This Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Programme in Groundwater and Global Change – Impacts and Adaptation (GroundwatCh) is a two-year program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions between groundwater, surface water, climate, and global change. The program is offered by three universities: the University of Algarve in Portugal, the University of Montpellier in France, and the Technische Universität Dresden in Germany.
The program is designed to prepare students for careers in research, consulting, and policymaking in the field of groundwater management. Students will gain expertise in a variety of areas, including hydrological flow and ecosystems, groundwater quality and pollution, groundwater and climate, IWRM and sustainable development, water infrastructure, and monitoring, data, and modeling.
The program is open to students with a bachelor’s degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, water resources management, environmental engineering, or a related field. The application deadline for Erasmus scholarship is 6th January, 2025 and February 3th for program countries.

Eligibility Criteria for Master Programme in Groundwater and Global Change
Admission requirements for the Joint Master Programme in Groundwater and Global Change – Impacts and Adaptation:
To be eligible for admission, applicants must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject including geologic, hydraulic, civil, environmental or agricultural engineering, geosciences, environmental sciences, climate sciences, geography, geology, or any other similar subject.
- Sufficient academic knowledge of mathematics
- A strong academic record
- Sufficient mathematical skills
- Proof of English language proficiency
Applications may be submitted before the completion of the bachelor’s degree if at least 120 ECTS credits have been earned.

Note- File Format and Size: Only PDF files with a maximum file size of 2 MB per file will be accepted.
Pending Graduation: If you are in the last year of your bachelor’s degree and have not yet graduated, you must provide a statement from your university confirming your enrollment in the final year and your expected graduation date before August 15th of the program’s start year. Additionally, you must attach your transcript showing the courses you have taken, the grades you have received, and the ECTS credits you have earned.

Before you start to apply online, collect the following documents:
- Certified copies of academic diplomas and transcripts
- Curriculum vitae
- Answers to five motivation questions
- Two letters of recommendation
- Results of an English language test (if applicable)
In the application form, where you are asked how you will finance your study, select “Erasmus Mundus scholarship.”
If you have dual nationality, your nationality on the application form and the passport you upload will determine whether you are eligible for a partner or programme country scholarship.

The last date to apply for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is 6 January 2025, 23.59 hrs Dutch time (partner countries) / 3 February 2025, 23.59 hrs Dutch time (programme countries).
