Fulbright Masters and PhD Scholarship for Pakistani Students

The Fulbright Scholarship program is currently accepting applications for 2025 for Masters and Phd Programs from Pakistani students. The Fulbright Scholarship is a prestigious international scholarship program that provides Pakistani students with the opportunity to pursue graduate studies in the United States. The scholarship covers tuition, required textbooks, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance. The scholarship is for Master’s or Phd Degree programs. This program has allowed students to study across the United States in any university every year.

For the Master’s degree program, eligible candidates will have either a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s and Master’s combination totaling 16 years of formal education from an accredited university. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply, except for MBA and Public Policy/Administration applicants, who require 2 years of work experience.

For the PhD degree program, eligible applicants will have a Master’s, M.Phil or comparable degree (a minimum of 18 years of formal education) from an accredited university. It is highly desirable that candidates have work experience in teaching, research, or the public sector in Pakistan.

GRE Requirement

For both the Master’s and PhD programs, all academic disciplines are eligible, except clinical medicine. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE General) is required for all applicants. Under the new scoring system, a minimum score of 145 is required on each section of the GRE examination, with a higher score on the section most applicable to your field of study.

Applicants must also possess a high level of fluency in spoken and written English. The selected candidates will be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

The United States Department of State’s premier scholarship program is the Fulbright Program. Fulbright Awards are available in over 160 nations worldwide. Since 2005, Pakistan has hosted the largest Fulbright Program thanks to significant funding from the U.S. Embassy there. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) is also collaborating with the Fulbright Program to fund 25 PhD scholarships annually for the next five years. These scholarships will be governed by Fulbright policies and regulations.

Eligibility for Fulbright Masters and PhD Scholarship

To be eligible for the Fulbright Scholarship, you must be:

A Pakistani citizen
All disciplines are eligible to apply except clinical medicine.
People in the fields of energy, water, agriculture, health, education, environment and climate change are encouraged to apply.
Residing in Pakistan
Committed to returning to Pakistan after your studies
Have a strong academic record
Have a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s and Master’s combination (16 years of formal education) for Master’s applicants
Have a Master’s, M.Phil., or a comparable degree (18 years of formal education) for PhD applicants
Have a high level of fluency in spoken and written English
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a requirement
The test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) is requirement for all selected candidates.

Application Process

The application deadline for the Fulbright Scholarship is February 28th of each year. To apply, you will need to submit the following documents:

An application form
Three reference letters
GRE score report
Scanned transcripts

Those who are currently attending or teaching at HEC approved public universities can get GRE fee reimbursement if they have scored 300 in engineering and science subjects and 290 in humanities and social science. You can submit a request along with the application for fee reimbursement. 30 reimbursements are available for 2025.
