Commonwealth scholarships are not only for students to study full time in UK universities on campus but also provides opportunities for distance learning. If some of you do not know what Distant Learning is, it is a study program that allows you to take classes online from anywhere in the world. The courses are fully remote, and you get a degree from the university.
Through, the distance Learning scholarship program you can enroll for a Master’s degree from a UK University. The scholarship will pay your tuition fee and will cover other charges.
The program is funded by the Uk Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Commonwealth Distance learning scholarship for motivated individuals. These scholarships are for low and middle income commonwealth countries. They can take a part-time taught Master’s degree remaining in their home countries.
These scholarships are for the academic year 2025/2026. The classes will start in September/October 2025. You will be submitting two applications, One for admission in the University,Meanwhile, for scholarship at CSC’s online application system.
Remember, you can apply for more than one course and to more than one university. Once you apply for a Distance Learning scholarship, the commonwealth will inform the University for a Scholarship in May 2025. If you were successfully awarded the scholarship, the University will inform you in July 2025.

Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for Commonwealth distance learning scholarship program, you must fulfill the following requirements below:
- Citizen of, or have been granted refugee status by, an eligible Commonwealth country, or a British Protected Person.
- Permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
- Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard. A lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience may be considered in certain cases.
- Unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship
The eligibility criteria above is only for scholarship, you must check university admission criteria while applying for admission. The admission criteria will depend on your course of study.
Documents requirement for Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship
The application for Commonwealth Distance Learning scholarship requires you to submit documents including references. Other documents includes:
- Valid passport or National ID card that have your photograph, date of birth, citizenship
- Transcripts of records (Certified translation to english if requires)
- Two references in pdf format, signed and on letterhead
Deadline for Application for Commonwealth distance Learning scholarship
The deadline for submitting an application is 16:00 GMT on Tuesday 20 May 2025. The scholarships are for study beginning in September/October 2025.
