IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship in Mathematical Sciences 

IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship Program, 2024 is open for application. The fellowship is offered for Phd degree in the field of Mathematical sciences. It is a fully funded program and offered to the students from developing countries. The scholarship covers tuition fee, and provides other benefits. 

The program is run by the International Mathematical Union, with the help of FIMU, and aims to help students from developing countries who want to pursue a PhD degree in mathematics in their own country or another developing country. The program welcomes nominations from professional mathematicians who know of talented and motivated students who have a strong mathematical background and potential.

Benefits of the Fellowship 

The participants  of the IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship Program will receive the following costs up to a maximum of USD 10,000 per year. The fellowship covers:

  • Full tuition fee for whole period
  • Accommodation costs 
  • Travel expenses to the host institution (if different from the home country)
  • Living stipend 

Eligibility criteria for the IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship 

  • Applicants must be citizen of a developing country and resides in the country 
  • Must be pre-accepted to join a doctoral program in the first academic year after the time of selection in a university or research institution which is based in a developing country.
  • Enrolled in a doctoral program in a university or research institution which is based in a developing country.
  • Applicants must have good academic records 
  • Seriously interested in pursuing a career in research and teaching in mathematics.

Remember: Nomination for women students is preferable.

  • Statement from nominator
  • Scanned copy of student nominee passport
  • Official letter of pre-acceptance in the PhD program
  • Budget of annual expenses

  • Transcripts of coursework (certified copies)
  • A) BSc degree or equivalent
  • B) MSc degree or equivalent
