Interact Africa scholarship for Phd and MSC|Fully Funded|

 INTERACTAfrica PhD and MSc Scholarships 2024/2025 is open for applications. It is a fully funded study program offering 28 postgraduate, and 5 Phd scholarships. The European Union supports education and empower the young generation in africa. It is another scheme where through intra-africa Academic mobility, EU’s is supporting africans. Interact-africa is a European Funded project with a high focus on chemistry, biology and information technology. Moreover, the project emphasizes on converting organic waste to valuable bioproducts for  environmental sustainable and socially inclusive economies.

Africa youth, despite having the potential to solve problems, lack behind due to non-availability of resources. Fully funded scholarships are a great way to minimize this barrier.  Nationals of african countries including staff, and students of higher educational institutions can apply for this opportunity. 

The program highly encourages women, persons with disabilities, and other disadvantages to apply for African scholarships. This scholarship will help them build a strong career, and have a quality life. Additionally, students will be able to make contributions to African communities.

Benefits of Interact-Africa scholarship

Since it is a fully funded scholarship, it will take care of your expenses. The program provides:

  • Tuition fee for Masters and Phd Program
  • Research Costs for the duration of the study 
  • Health insurance and Accident cover 
  • Monthly stipend of Euro 1,230 per month for PhD 
  • For Masters 890 Euro per month 
  • Your stipend also includes travel cost, visa costs and setting allowance

Target Beneficiaries

The scholarship beneficiaries are divided into two target groups (TGs):

TG-I:

Students registered at or graduated from one of the African universities in the INTERACT-Africa project partnership:

  • Moi University (Kenya)
  • Mbarara University of Science and Technology (Uganda)
  • Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania)
  • Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia)
  • Institut Facultaire Des Sciences Agronomiques De Yangambi (Democratic Republic of Congo)

TG-II:

Students registered at or graduated from any African university not included in the partnership.

Priority is given to students from conflict-affected and disadvantaged countries, including:

  • Côte d’Ivoire
  • Sudan
  • Somalia
  • Mozambique
  • Algeria

Eligibility Criteria for scholarship

  • The candidate must meet minimum requirements for admission into Masters and PhD programmes as stipulated by the host University Senate/regulating body.
  • Provide proof that the candidate is a national of and residence of an eligible country.
  • Student beneficiaries must be of African nationality and residing in Africa at the time of application.
  • All interested candidates must submit a research concept paper in the intended area of study (1 page, Times New Roman, single spacing).
  • Applicants will not be allowed to participate in the mobility without an admission letter from the
    host university.
  • Applicants to declare not to have already benefited from a previous student scholarship under the projects selected in the framework of the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2022-2027.
  • Applicants to commit not to benefit from another EU funded scholarship scheme to implement the same activity during their Intra-Africa mobility period.
  • Provide motivation letters reflecting innovative technologies in climate change and mitigation.
  • Recommendation letters and/ reference letters (two). One from an academic advisor or professor/lecturer.
  • Applicant must be willing to study not in his/her country but within the eligible countries
  • Provide proof of needs where applicable
  • Applicants from Non – – English level B2 Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or its equivalent is mandatory to study in the institutions that use English as the language of instruction.
  • To study at Institut Facultaire Des Sciences Agronomiques De Yangambi (IFA-YANGAMBI), French level B2 or its equivalent is mandatory

Document requirements for the scholarship

Interact Africa scholarship requires you to submit the following documents below:

  • Copy of National ID
  • Passport biodata page
  • Proof of special need certificate/document
  • Curriculum Vitae – maximum 4 pages
  • Certified(translated into English) copies of academic certificates (Undergraduate for Msc Applications, Undergraduate and Masters for PhD Application)
  • Certified (translated) transcripts of study results from university
  • Recent publications – if applicable
  • Motivation letter reflecting innovative technologies in climate change mitigation and sustainable bioeconomy (1 page)
  • Preliminary study/research plan
  • Recommendation letters and/ reference letters (two). One  from an academic advisor or professor/lecturer
  • Letter from the employer to study – if applicable
  • Any other ( E.G English level B2, French Level B2, Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR )
  • Recent clear passport photograph with white background (jpeg, png format)
