McDonald Fellowships 2024

Applications for the McDonald Fellowships program 2024 are open now. The fellowship is for low and middle-income country researchers who want to pursue their research out of their own home country. The program enables the researchers to develop new expertise and build networking which will be helpful in conducting their research.

It is a two-year fellowship program with a Grant around  £30,000 GBP per year. The program will cover both travel and living costs of the applicants.

The McDonald Fellowship 2024 aims to deepen individuals’ understanding of multiple sclerosis (MS), including its types, causes, and symptoms. MSIF recognizes that the barriers to accessing MS healthcare and improved treatment are complex and vary across countries.

To achieve this purpose, MSIF collaborates with national MS organizations to develop a robust action plan for addressing MS healthcare challenges. The global opportunity for research projects aligns with MSIF’s mission: to improve the quality of life for everyone affected by MS. The organization focuses on five critical aims:

  • Positive Change in Attitudes, Policies, and Practices: MSIF advocates for shifts in societal attitudes, policies, and practices related to MS.
  • Confident and Informed Decision-Making: By providing accurate information, MSIF empowers individuals and policymakers to make informed decisions.
  • Greater Scientific Understanding and Treatments: Through research and collaboration, MSIF aims to advance scientific knowledge about MS and develop effective treatments.
  • Improved Access to Healthcare and Treatment: Ensuring equitable access to healthcare services is a priority for MSIF.
  • Building a Broader MSIF Movement: By expanding its reach, MSIF seeks to create a global movement dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by those affected by MS.

MSIF’s advanced system bridges gaps in the global research workforce, measures research impact, increases funding for MS research, strengthens MS organizations, and fosters related networks.
