Teach for India fellowship 2025 is open for applications. Teach for India is a non-profit organization working for education. The program gives an opportunity to young graduates of India to serve as full-time teachers. They will be teaching children from unprivileged communities. The program helps the fellows in building their leadership skills, knowledge, and mindset to bring changes in the education sector.
The fellowship accepts applications from college graduates and working professionals. The fellows will service more than 209 schools in seven cities of India. These cities include Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
Your journey begins with a residential training institute, where you acquire the skills and mindsets needed to teach in an innovative, reimagined way. Following this, you are placed as a full-time teacher in a school serving students from low-income communities. Throughout your teaching experience, you learn both inside and outside the classroom, reflecting on your experiences with peers and receiving support and on-the-ground training from your Program Manager.
After the first year, you have the option to undertake a summer internship to explore a new dimension of educational equity. In the second year, you continue teaching while also developing entrepreneurial skills through a “Be The Change” project, focusing on addressing a specific barrier in education.
Benefits of the fellowship program
The fellows of this program will receive:
- Monthly stipend of ₹25,344
- Housing allowance from ₹6000 to ₹12,000
- Allowance for school supplies along with other benefits.
- Reimbursements for work-related expenses (e.g. school supplies on a per-child cost basis).
- Health insurance of up to INR 100,000 and access to free counseling.
- Casual and sick leave, national, regional and school holidays and a summer break.
- Access to the career fair after the Fellowship.
Besides financial benefits, the fellows will get the opportunity to improve their skills. They will go through extensive training to be able to achieve the goal. The program is highly focused on bringing people forward who are passionate about change. The fellowship aims to improve the education system to minimize the inequalities in the education system.
Eligibility criteria for fellowship program
If you are passionate about change, and willing to work with Teach for india, you must fulfill the following criteria below,
- Completed graduation by June/July 2025.
- Are applying for the first time for the 2025 Fellowship cohort, since July 2024.
- Are a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).

How to Apply for a Teach for India fellowship program?
Teach for India accepts applications through an online platform. The applications include your achievements, interests, experiences, and motivation to join the fellowship. The recruitment process also includes a short 30 minute discussion on your submitted application.
Those who will pass the application process will be invited for further assessment. The assessment includes activities involving teaching, group work and critical thinking. It is both in person and online.
