The OECD Young Associates Programme

The OECD Young Associates Programme (YAP) is a two-year programme that provides recent undergraduates with a first professional experience in the world of multilateral policy making, research and analysis. The programme is designed to help undergraduates prepare for their future postgraduate studies. Selected young associates will be placed in Paris, France.

The 2024-2026 selection round of the Young Associates Programme is now open. The deadline for applications is 31 December 2023.

As a Young Associate, you will work closely with a senior manager in tackling some of the most challenging social and economic issues of today. Your day-to-day work may involve background research, drafting, liaising with partners internally and externally, and assisting in the coordination of events ranging from policy forums to Ministerial conferences. 

Throughout the programme, the focus will be on developing the professional competences and research expertise to be able to succeed in highly competitive applications for postgraduate studies.

What is the YAP?

The YAP is a unique opportunity to gain experience at the forefront of public policy development and analysis.The students will get the opportunity to work on variety of research and analytical policy areas.

Eligibility Criteria for OECD Young Associates Programme

To be eligible for the YAP 2024-2026 round, candidates must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with a graduation date between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2024.
  • Hold a nationality of an OECD Member country.
  • Demonstrate overall academic achievement with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 out of a 4.0 scale.
  • Have evidence of being able to work constructively in a team.
  • Have fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and a commitment to reach a good working level of the other after joining the OECD.

Remember- Students who hold or are enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree are not considered for the program. 

What is the selection process?

The selection process for the YAP 2024-2026 round is as follows:

  • Applications: Applications are online through the OECD Careers website from 22 November 2023 to 31 December 2023.
  • Screening: Applications are screened, and retained candidates are contacted regarding the next steps.
  • Assessments: Candidates are assessed, which may take the form of an online aptitude test and video/phone interviews.
  • Final selection: Successful canidates will recieve an offer.

What is the salary and benefits package?

The YAP offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • A monthly salary of approximately EUR 3,700, exempt from French income tax.
  • A leaving allowance of approximately EUR 23,000.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance.
  • Expatriation allowance and home leave.
  • Installation allowance (equivalent to one month’s salary for single candidates).
  • Reimbursement of removal expenses and airline tickets to Paris and back to your home destination at the end of the Programme.

The following directorates and special bodies will host Young Associates in the 2024-2026 round:

  • Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities (CFE)
  • Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs (DAF)
  • Economics Department (ECO)
  • Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs (ELS)
  • Environment Directorate (ENV)
  • Financial Action Task Force (FATF)
  • International Energy Agency (IEA)
  • General Secretariat (SGE)
