Eligibility Criteria for internship
- Age: Applicant must be twenty years old at the time of application.
- Education: Enrolled in a university or equivalent institution, pursuing a qualification in public health, medicine, social sciences, or related fields. For bachelor’s level, completion of three years of full-time studies
- Languages: Fluent in at least one working language of the office of assignment.
- Family Relation: No direct relation to a WHO staff member.
- Nationality: Valid passport of a WHO Member State.
Must not have participated in WHO’s Internship Program previously.

Benefits of WHO Internship Program

Candidate Obligations
Candidates must:
- Commit to full-time work for a minimum of six weeks to a maximum of 24 weeks.
- Provide proof of enrollment or completion of their last qualification.
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
- Submit a WHO medical certificate of fitness for work.
Interns are not WHO staff members. Also, they cannot represent the organization officially. They are not eligible for non-staff positions within WHO for three months post-internship. WHO does not sign agreements required by sponsors or institutions. Health organization consider highly qualified students from all over the globe.
WHO receives a high volume of applications for internships, and the organization selects only a limited number of applicants each year. If a candidate is successful, WHO will contact them, and those who are unsuccessful have the opportunity to reapply if they meet the eligibility criteria.
For Geneva internships, note that while a living allowance is provided, Geneva living costs are high, and accommodation can be challenging to find.
